Or I should say all alt.binaries. And Houston is not even close to NY.

It has nothing to do with your geographical region, and everything to do
with your ISP.

Thank Andrew Como and all the morons who stop thinking as soon as someone
claims to be protecting children.

It appears that Comcast has completely shut down their newsgroup server.
Forget the alt hierarchy - there is no server to connect to!

This is because Andrew Como raised a big stink about someone finding a child
porn image in a seldom used alt group. Obviously the only solution is to
inconvenience everyone and completely take away all discussion groups even
though this will do nothing to stop the spread of child pornograpgy.

Typical assh*** politician trying to take credit for fighting the good fight
and not actually caring if his measures work.

As far as I can tell, Cox still supports all the alt. and binary groups.
ABPN still works for me, but it may not be worthwhile if so many people
can't post to it.

Comcast has not shut down their newsgroup server.......at least not to all customers.
I use it everday and am, indeed, using it right now!

Same here. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to our servers yet.
