Default FA: WWII U.S. Army Air Force Stoneware Whiskey Jug

WWII U.S. Army Air Force Stoneware Whiskey Jug

This WWII U.S. Army Air Force Stoneware Whiskey Jug is in excellent
condition. The jug is a ½ gallon stoneware jug that has a cream colored
gazed finish. The jug is marked on the front (Henry McKenna, Hand Made
Kentucky Whiskey, Fairfield, Nelson County Kentucky, Since 1855) all in blue
glazed scripted lettering surrounding a floral motif design. There is also a
silver label near the top (Henry McKenna, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey,
Distilled by H. McKenna Distillery, Fairfield, Nelson County, Ky, 86 Proof,
6 years old). What is more interesting is another label on the jug that
states, (U.S. Air Force, Open Mess). This label also has the distillery
number. This color of the label is OD green and bronze (WWII AAF type
label). The top of the jug handle also has remnants of another paper label.
The backside of the jug is marked (Half Gallon) in blue glazed letters. The
bottom of the jug is marked, that it should not be reused and (D. 126, G4,
146). The jug measures 10 inches high x 6 inches in diameter. There is
absolutely no cracks, chips, broken pieces, or any other damage. All
markings are crisp and clear. This is one of the most unusual military mess
items I have come across and the first one of its kind I have seen. A great
addition to any military collection or to any stoneware collection.
