Default Rockola 1493 Tech Question

The gripper arm sometimes misses picking up the record from the carriage. When
the carriage is in the "home" position it appears that the gripper arm is not
centered. Is there an adjustment?
Thanks, Jim
Phila., Pa.

If I had to guess without seeing it I would guess that the drum (record
wheel) is out of adjustment. It's pretty hard for the gripper arm to get out
of side to side adjustment unless it's physically bent, and then it probably
wouldn't pick up a record at all.
Try adjusting the drum position. There is a collar on the shaft that can be
loosened and then you can move the drum.

Forget about centering it over the home position, make sure it is
centered when it stops over the record slots. If it isn't, there is an
adjustment on the search arm. (the arm on the far right that rotates
when the record carriage rotates.) If it is centered, then it sounds
like a typical gripper arm that needs to be lubed, possibly dissasembled
and cleaned first. When sticky, they tend to lift before clamping the
record.

Tony,
I made the adjustment on the search arm by turning the screw a half turn and it
corrected the problem. Thanks, Jim

Glad to help. I just wanted to thank you for responding (in the same
thread also, that is an extra bonus!) with what the problem was. So
many people take the advice and never give a second thought to let
everyone know what the problem was.
