Firearms Identification 2-Vol Book Set, J. Mathews, c. '62

This 2-Volume Book set titled, "Firearms Identification" by J. Howard
Mathews is in its original dust jacket and in excellent condition. Volume I
is 400 pages and Volume II is 492 pages. The book set is published by the
University of Wisconsin Press, Madison Wisconsin, 1st Edition, Copyright
1962. This set is broken down into 6 sections. The first section covers a
comprehensive discussion of laboratory proecured used in the identification
of guns from fired bullets and fired cartridges, firearms photography and
methods of restoration of serial numbers. The next section is an extensive
research report of the results of measurements of rifling characteristics of
over 2300 guns from 23 countries. Part III is devoted to notes on automatic
pistols. Part IV and V contain over 3,000 photographs of handguns
representing arms made in 23 countries. Part VI consists of trademarks and
other identification marks photographed from various guns. There are also
eight appendices that give data, lists, firing pin impressions, and
translations, shell markings, and more. This is a fantastic wealth of
reference material for any gun collector. The books measure 9" x 12". The
books are in excellent condition with no rips, tears, stains, loose or
missing pages. The dust jackets are worn, but all in one piece.
