Default The throne of England

This piece from a stamp catalogue,
suggests King Edward's chair as incorrect
as "The Queen on throne"

This puzzles me, is not the Coronation chair
the throne anyhows?

The Coronation chair is the chair in Westminster Abbey,
that the monarchs (except about three) have been crowned on.
It was made on the orders of King Edward I in 1300–1
to enclose the Stone of Scone (also called the Stone
of Destiny), which he had brought from Scotland in l296
and placed in the care of the Abbot of Westminster.

While there is only one Coronation Chair, there are several thrones.
The coronation Chair is one. Another is the specific chair used only
by the monarch at the State opening of Parliament for the delivery
of the Speech from the Throne.

In an abstract sense, the "Throne of England" also refers
rhetorically to kingship [1] and to the monarchy itself.

Thank you Blair,
then the catalogue advice is incorrect.

Why worry your pretty little head about this, Rodney? Soon enough we
will be a republic, and the matter will be even more academic!

Tony

Oh Dear, my perfidious friend.

No other voice nor sound is there,
In the army of the grave;
No other challenge breaks the air,
But the rushing of Life's wave.

And when the solemn and deep churchbell
Entreats the soul to pray,
The midnight phantoms feel the spell,
The shadows sweep away.

Down the broad Vale of Tears afar
The spectral camp is fled;
Faith shineth as a morning star,
Our ghastly fears are dead.

It may well be a good day if Australia becomes a republic but how will
that affect what is and what is not the throne of England?

Not a jot, Douglas,
I am on the receiving end of a friendly dig in the ribs.
