Peter Hi Number two(2) looks like a match box label. I once got a large lot of cinderellas and they were similar match box labels. Art |

Produced by the Sovnarhoz (Soviet Popular Farm) from Kirovsk or Nirovsk, named Krasnaia Zvezda (Red Star). GOST means State Standard. The animals and the milk were shown to remind everybody that soon, as promised by the same Khrushchev, USSR will surpass the US in the production of meat and milk, what actually never happened. At that time the production of them was in the USSR lower then in the tsarist Russia, about 50 years earlier. 1962 was the year of the Russian nuclear missiles, placed in Cuba by Khrushchev, see http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/nikita.htm and also the year when I graduated from the high scool :-) Gruss, -- Victor Manta ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Communism on Stamps: http://reds-on.postalstamps.biz/ Philatelic Webmasters Organization: http://pwmo.org/ Art on Stamps: http://artonstamps.org/ Romania by Stamps: http://marci-postale.com/ Spanish North Africa: http://www.sna-on.postalstamps.biz/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
