Default Laughable..."XF/AU"... 1867 2c piece

Look at the pictures! But -- first you have to wade through approx. 2
pages of stuff that have nothing to do with this particular coin.

Lots of neg's, too ... think I'll stay away.

Hey, I've seen 'em slabbed XF-40 that looked like that, and not by
bottom-tier companies, either.

looks maybe XF to me too. however, where is the "we"? and there is
some strange coloration.

With 30 some thousand feedbacks, there are bound to be a few bad
experiences.

Having said that, I think this guy used to sell a lot of slabs that are
not approved by the heads of RCC.

"Natural grunge" he calls it. In EAC we call it verdigris, which is a
surefire net-grade-maker. With that issue, and without the "WE" the coin
goes no higher than Fine-12. 1867 is so common a date that there is no such
thing as "market grading" to contemplate here. When I stated that I had
seen such items in XF-40 slabs, I was expressing horror, not approbation.
Sorry I didn't make myself clearer.

I have seen many of this seller's auctions, and have bid on a few, never
successfully. His feedback is sufficiently good to raise no red flags in
that regard. One of his negs is from a guy who obviously didn't read the
auction.

"Heads" of RCC? Who dat? I know of no one who has ever claimed the title
or rank. Certainly not moi. I do not approve any slabs. There. I finally
came right out and said it.

I could see an XF grade (low end anyway) except for the missing "we" and the
strange color. I'm not sure what the heck the missing "we" means.

It means that the coin is worn beyond the point where even VF is an
appropriate grade. Even for a grade of Fine the ANA Guide says that the
entire motto must be visible but WE will be very weak. I repeat, very weak,
not missing altogether.

Geez, I can be a hardnose, can't I?

normally, I would tend to agree. but the whole thing is just odd. how does
one word get worn off and the rest of the coin not exhibit similar wear? I
am not convinced it is wear.

ACG declared me a 'Head Up" of RCC in its federal court filing. It was
as much of a shock to me as it was to everybody else to discover that
I (and a few others) had been in charge all this time.

So I claimed the title and sent some dissidents to go stand in the
corner.

Subsequent federal filings by ACG indicated that the "Head Ups" are
actually just figureheads controlled by PCGS, Heritage and a couple
of other firms.

Nobody wanted to be controlled by those firms, so I lost a lot of my
political base there. Then the case got kicked out of court basically
for being nonsense, and that was the only place that acknowledged me
as a "Head Up". So now I find myself out of a job and my alleged
overlords at PCGS act like they don't even know I exist.

I see some evidence of "WE", but it I also know that it can
be difficult to pick up in a photograph. Here's what happened
when I tried to photograph my deuce, slabbed MS-61:
