WQMA OldiesRadio 1520 Radio Station Plans 8-Track Thursday Feature
Hi all,
Beginning in about two weeks, we're going to start an "8-Track Thursday" feature on the radio during the JASON AND JENNIFER IN THE AFTERNOON show from 1-4pm. I approached this group with this idea it seems like years ago. Well the station is finally headed in a positive direction and we're adding several of our ideas in the coming weeks. On Thursday afternoons, we plan to disconnect the CD players, turn off the computers, and hook some 8-track players up to our consoles and go. Yes, tapes will break or get eaten live on-air. Yes, songs will be interrupted on-air in two parts with a changing of the track. Those are 8-track memories that people who have long thrown away their 8-track player will be able to fondly remember with us in-studio. We need your help: Anyone wanting to donate 8-track players or 8-tracks will be appreciated on-air. We already have one player and approximately 100 tapes but we definitely need more tapes and players to continue the feature on a regular basis. Have an 8-track related business? Let us promote you on our website and on-the-air during the show in exchange for your 8-track related gift! Advertising usually ranges from $60-$600 per month. If you give us a tape, we WILL play something from it! And give you an on-air mention. Please send any and all 8-track related items to: WQMA 1820 West Marks Road Marks, MS 38646 Please give us something worthy of airplay. Something that others in the 8-track world will appreciate hearing. But you can get rid of your common unwanted duplicate tapes too! We hope you join us Thursday afternoons online at http://www.q1520radio.com We are the only radio station that intends to celebrate and appreciate the 8-track community. WQMA OldiesRadio 1520 plays 15 to 20 song commercial free music marathons weekday afternoons after the Steve & DC Morning Show. The station also features the best national oldies programming all weekend long with Dick Bartley, Mike Harvey, Casey Kasem, Dr. Demento, Ross Brittian, and more. |

And yes, everyone will be able to listen online no matter where you are. Especially because our station carries a lot of top national weekend programming like Casey Kasem and Dick Clark, we frequently get emails from all over. People have listened in South America, Iraq (the soldiers looking for programming from home!), the UK, Canada, and all around the world. We have a broadband quality stream that will make you think you are in our studio listening, and a stream for dialup connections too. I was surprised to see how many replies came in so quickly... I hope the feature is a success and that everyone enjoys listening. If anyone wants to check with me first to see if something they have would be of use to us prior to sending, or if anyone has a question, I forgot to mention that you can contact me directly at You can followup here too. I'll be checking in. BTW, for anyone surfing and looking for some good oldies today. Dick Clark's show begins at 2pm central. Great show! Jason |

Hi Dick, I attempted to reply to an email from you but Yahoo bounced it: "For , Site yahoo.com (64.156.215.6) said data: 554 delivery error: dd This user doesn't have a yahoo.com account ) [-5] - mta164.mail.scd.yahoo.com" Since the subject matter really isn't too personal, I will reply here. If you want, you can followup here, or via email and provide me with a working reply address. Here was my email to you: tell me how to listen via the internet, and also I sell tapes and players on Ebay for 5 years now- I service them first- if you want I can send you a serviced deck free of charge that I know will work well for you- just mention a plug for "66fourdoor" on Ebay Hi Dick, I'd be happy to help. Click he http://www.q1520radio.com/listen.html Then click the "First Time - WQMA Dialup Stream" link. That link will automatically start the download for the STREAMER program which you will need to listen. When you come back to the site later, you can follow the other steps for increased sound quality. And we'd love to take you up on your offer. Our current player is consumer grade, and not the best at all. It has a hiss above and beyond what it's supposed to have, I'm sure. We figured it would get us started at least but we'd love to start with something better. We'll mention you plenty, and if you have any current eBay auctions, we'll probably even mention them. Here's our address: WQMA 1820 West Marks Road Marks, MS 38646 Be sure to include a note (just print out this email if you want) with the player so we know it's you... Thanks again for your offer... Jason |
