Nudo, Jr., of Drums, PA, says rules don't apply to him and spams Usenet unrepentantly for his own eBay and Audiogon trash and for businesses he cons into paying him to spam their wares, mostly in off-topic newsgroups where such spam is not wanted. Since having almost all his Google Groups sock puppet accounts shut down for spamming, he's down to just two. All his spam posts originate from frontier.net (formerly epix.net,) his home ISP, and since he's dumb enough to use Google Groups, his IP is in each header. Such auction spam is a violation of both Google Groups' and Frontier.net's Terms of Service. Per his ISP's Terms of Use, it's also a violation to violate the rules of other sites, and the spammer can be assessed a minimum $200 fine for such a violation. See applicable rule statements at: http://www.frontieronline.com/residential_aup and... http://groups.google.com/googlegroup..._service3.html Fight back against Usenet spam by sending his spam message, with headers, to: You can also reach Frontier's abuse desk on: 866-474-7662 Be sure to include his IP in your complaint to Frontier, which is 216.222.225.253 for this spam load. |

You should take the chap up on his £5 offer from the UK...it's the only one you've gotten for that coarse sounding doorstop so far. Hey Noodles! Get another $200 fine yet? LMAO! |

bob was this reciver any good in its day? it looks nicely built compared to some of todays cheap crap. snip This was one of National's first attempts at copying the US market, this time going after the Fisher 500/800s and Harman-Kardon receivers that were popular at the time. This receiver was never marketed directly in the US, but did show up in the UK, Australia, Canada and many other markets, as "Japan, Inc." was floating "trial balloons" in preparation for decimating the US consumer electronic industry...which they later did. The obvious plagiarism of various Fisher 500/800 features is quite obvious, right down to the 7591/7868 (same tube, different basing) self-biased outputs. The downfall of this particular unit is its "doorbell transformer" output transformer...very loose coupling, yielding lousy damping factor, a Japanese tube amplifier trademark. Custom wound transformers in US makes at the time would outclass even the best Japanese products, which is one reason why the Japanese didn't bother competing seriously in the US market in the tube days...metals and materials to build really good bifilar wound transformers were simply out of their reach at the time. Once transformers were eliminated with full solid state design, they became real contenders, since they wisely skipped the germanium/interstage-transformer-coupled era as well (when all that lousy SS stuff appeared in the US in the '60s) and they waited for their own silicon/direct coupled designs, which swept the market easily in the early '70s. Is this thing worth $1000? $500? $250? Nope...only to some nutty collector, MAYBE. They weren't really great all around...all performance aspects were "fair-to-good" at best. Besides lousy damping ability, the were noted for easily saturated output transformer cores. Pioneer's silicon receivers later would be market mainstays because of their good, if not stellar, performance and good reliability. |
