Searched through 8 rolls of cents yesterday and found the following:

1 2000 Ty II
1 1992 with a very nice obverse die-crack
1 1997 with a recessed rim front and back
1 1998 Canada Cent
6 2010 Sheild Cents

and 87 pre-1982 copper cents.

1st search in a few weeks that hasn't produced any wheats. Still not a
bad haul.

I haven't gotten a wheatie in quite a while but I did get a major off-center
Zincoln while searching several rolls.
About 20% of the cents I searched were pre-82s.

Speaking of pennies - I see a lot more of the new Shield cents (both 2010 and
2011) than I do of any of the 2009 commems.

Just a quick observation. Here in the mountains of central NY, it
took almost a year before we started seeing 2009 cents, but 2010
Shields started showing up almost immediately.

On another coin, STILL only two DC-Ps and one PR-P quarters seen in
circulation. No other Territorials, and no ATBs.

It's kind of a sad commentary on the state of collecting today when so much
of the excitement seems to involve finding a 2010 or 2011 coin in
circulation or getting bank rolls of dollar coins and noting the reactions
when spending them. It also makes me wonder how many of the so-called "new
collectors" generated by the state quarter program ever progressed beyond
pushing those circ quarters into the holes in a board.

Speaking of the Shield cent, I may be in the minority but I really like the
Shield design.

It's not bad, I agree. I am a little disappointed that they didn't
make a new portrait of Lincoln; just how long are they going to keep
Brenner's design on it?

Has anyone noticed that the 2010 & 2011 dates have slightly different
Lincoln portraits? As I recall, they went back to the original 1909
design for the 2009 issues, & seem to have kept it in 2010. But this
year, they're back to the hollowed-out shoulder they had in the 1990s.

I haven't thought about it since the SQ Program ended. I noticed a
LOT of uncirculated SQs in my change starting in 2009. All those
people who saved all of the SQs they could get their hands on were
disappointed to find out that they couldn't get Coin Vault prices for
$25.00 worth of quarters in a Harris folder.

On the other hand, my once disinterested son started filling in an SQ
board and got hooked on Kennedy halves and Presibux. So there are
some NCs out there.
