Default what is a starter holder???

what is a starter holder. i originally thought it was a place to plug in a weird shaped bulb. do you plug anything into it, what is the purpose, thanks.

That is where you put the fluorescent lamp starter into.

In jukeboxes it is a Twist lock style, bi-pin. The starters are usually
type FS2 or FS25 Nothing else will plug into them and is pretty much kid
proof. Without it you have no light(s). I hope this was somewhat
illuminating (pun)

what does it do though, where do you get them , and are there different types, watts, etc...

Default what is a starter holder???

A starter is required when used with "preheat" fluorescent lamps. When
power is first applied the starter momentarily closes a circuit to the
fluorescent tube. When the tube lights, the starter cuts itself out of
the circuit until the next time you turn on the power. Starters are
sort of like a thermal switch you could say.

They come in different electrical sizes depending on the wattage of
the bulb to be lit.

Jukeboxes typically use types FS-2, FS-4, and FS-25. You can buy these
at local hardware/electrical/lighting stores.
