Default Coin with stain

OK, you may remember a posting about a coin with stain on obv I wanted to
buy.
The coin is here and I have posted scannings on abpn.

I must say that the scanner is catching things the naked eye can't see, so
it reproduces the coin much worst than it really is.
The coins is nearer to the auction picture.
So, I paid about $45.00 for that coin, what is your opinion ?
Was it worth those money or not ?

Thank you.

Krause catalog for this piece is $20 in XF, $100 in Unc. This appears to be
an Unc. with some scattered corrosion, not really a "stain" as I imagine
one. Such damage is very typical of so many coins from Southeast Asia. I
consider this type of defect less serious than an actual "stain" which has
contrasting color with distinct boundaries, and which attracts the eye
toward itself. So, shooting from the hip, as one must always do with
problem coins, I'd say that your paying less than 50% of catalog value was
appropriate. Of course, you are the one who must make the final call on
this.

I tend to agree with you James :-)
It looks much better than in my scanning, so I am pleased for now; maybe
later I'll feel the need to upgrade though ;-)
