Default The spoof that wasn't

A couple weeks ago I reported that I had been receiving emails from "eBay"
about my watched items having been relisted. The first time they were not
items that I had ever watched, but the second time one of the items was very
similar to what I would be watching, and the other was exactly something I
had been watching! Both times I forwarded them to . Both
times I received the standard "we can assure you that eBay did not send
them." This happened again on Wednesday. Again I reported it to spoof.
Today I received this email from eBay:

"The notice we sent to you incorrectly referred to an item bieng relisted
that is not on the "Watching" list for your account. Although this
notice is an authentic email from eBay, it was mistakenly sent by our
system. We apologize for any inconvenience or concern this might have
caused you.

Other members have also reported receiving notices for items they are
not watching. We appreciate your patience with us as we work to correct
this problem as soon as possible."

I wonder if any other rccers had this experience.

That was probably also a spoof with a web bug
in it, with most email clients there is no way to tell.

Yes. on a number of occasions this past week. Had me puzzled. Although
they were items I might have been interested in, I had passed them by on
earlier searches.

When i checked on the auctions involved and in all cases the items
hadn't in fact been relisted by the seller but were just running along
as normal. No changes ...nothing.

Maybe ebay are trialling a new `pssssst. Are you sure you don't want to
reconsider this one?' that they will shortly be asking an extra fee
from sellers for. :-)

I have received a couple bogus eBay messages like that, but not lately.
However, as of a couple days ago I started receiving what appears to be
legitimate "eBay Buying Status" emails from them in multiples of four and five
of the identical email. Opened my mail this morning and there were nine
consecutive repetitions of this email. Anyone else experiencing this?

I just unchecked the Daily Buying Status box in my eBay preferences, so
hopefully these emails will stop. I never really paid much attention to them
before and never realized I must have checked that box years ago. I don't
really see the need for these daily status emails, what with My Ebay available
to check my activities whenever I want. Anyway, the repeating emails seem to
have been fixed today.

Hmmmm. Didn't work. Eight more Daily Buying Status emails from eBay(?) today,
sent a couple minutes apart.

Glad to hear I am not the only one. I thought it very strange to have 9-10
identical e-mails from eBay for the Buying Status. This started a few days
ago for me.

And I just got another notice that an item that I allegedly had been
watching (I hadn't been) has now been relisted, this after an email from
eBay assuring me that the problem had been fixed.
