"Kids" sue Pink Floyd's label for royalties
Almost 25 years after "Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2" hit #1 on the
US charts and elsewhere, the "chorus kids" in the hit song are suing for back royalties. Turns out, what the producers did was round up 12 members of a high school choir near the studios, herded them into the studio and recorded them over and over again to emulate a huge mob. They were given a copy of the LP each, and ticket to a Pink Floyd concert. However, evidently UK law provides that performers who are unpaid for their work may sue for their time, if not back radio and other performance royalties. No word from EMI yet as to their position. Lesson to be learned: try to pull a fast one, and sooner or later, it'll catch up to you. dB |
