Shield Nickel Question
Hi Folks,
I recently purchased an 1866 Shield nickel in an auction. (It has the rays on the reverse.) In looking closely at it this morning, I note that the "1" and the last "6" of the date are both larger than the "86" that is between them. I see mention in the Red Book of a "repunched date" of that year. Would this size difference in the numerals be a repunched date? Thanks for your assistance. -=LDL |
