Default The myth of "heavy" dollar coins

Here's a Boston Globe article that continues the myth that dollar coins
are heavy. It seems the T is putting in change machines that transform
a $20 into four $5s because people have been complaining about getting
too many dollar coins in change.

First, I always travel with at least seventeen dollar coins in my
pocket, plus other change, and my "internal gyroscope" hasn't broken.

Second, if people would _spend_ their change, they'd find their pockets
would be much less full of coins, dollar or otherwise.

Third, the T machines are a good place to get dollar coins if you're
near Boston and your local bank refuses to supply them.

Can you imagine if they were to dispense 20 'rags' instead?

Or howabout 80 quarters?

Exactly. Dollar coins are the sensible thing to dispense compared to
20 dollar bills, 80 quarters, or how about 40 half dollars???

Are those twenty dollar bills in your pocket or are you just glad to
see me?
