unsticking self-stick stamps
Hi Pedro,
I use mineral spirits (odorless) on my US stamps. It is also know as paint thinner. You can get a gallon of it at the hardware store for $6-8. Soak stamps for a couple of hours, then peel from the paper. I keep a supply of paper towels handy to rub the remaining gum from the back. Works, and you have a perfectly gumless used stamp. Leaving the paper on them is astetically horrid. To each his own. Wolf-==- On Apr 4, 3:41*am, "Pedro" wrote: Hello all, * Can anybody suggest me the best way to remove paper from self-stick stamps? I've read that lighter fluid works very well in most cases, and it was good up until now. Some recent self-adhesive U.S. stamps I've received on letters are almost impossible to unstick without breaking them even after several hours, if not days, submerged into lighter fluid. So i have tried turpentine as an alternative because it is also an organic solvent, but in some cases it is useless too. best regards, Pedro |
