Probably because he is a major world figure, who will be remembered long
after other actors on the international stage are forgotten and who has
not profligately set his signature into the stream of commerce as others
have. How many people in history have effected a political revolution
by refusing to be set free from prison? I note that a first edition
copy of Mein Kampf inscribed by Hitler is currently listed for sale at
about $75,000, because (a) of the rarity and (b) the historical
significance of the individual. And this despite the ill-fame attaching
to things Nazi. (On a related note, I believe the 1937 501K Special
Roadster from Mercedes Benz that was armor plated for Herman Goering
[the only armor plated version of the 25 hand made units of that model
made] is still on the market.) So the market is anticipating that even
at that level of cost of purchase, the property will be of significantly
grreater value in a reasonably foreseeable time. Sometimes the market
is right, sometimes it is wrong.

There is one on eBay right now and it's over four figures already.
