Default Half Dollar Happiness!

I was recently digging through some coin stuff that I haven't looked at in a
long time. I happened on to a dozen or so 1964 Kennedy halves that I didn't
remember having. The thought occurred to me that I had never tried gathering
up a circulated set of Kennedys...

On my next trip to the bank, I had them order me a bag of half dollars
(1,000 coins) and it took about 10 days for me to get them. Out of those, I
found all but 14 of the coins needed to fill the set. (Not including proofs,
of course.) That left me with a bunch of halves to dispense of in some way.
I began to think, "When was the last time I had received a half dollar in
change?" "Well, it's been ages", I told myself.

So, I've begun spending them around here and there in my community. Twenty
dollars here for dinner... twenty dollars there for gas... a twelve dollar
haircut... a three-dollar tip. I've been amazed at the reaction of those to
whom I have given them. I renewed my drivers license for another 8 years
this afternoon. The fee was $34.50. Paid for with halves. The clerk said,
"Mercy! I've never seen so many halves all at once!" The guy in line behind
me told her that he'd like to have twenty dollars worth of them. So, anyway,
just had to mention how much fun I'm having! As soon as I spend these, I'll
order another bag of them and see if I can finish out the set.

Cliff:

How much silver and 40 percent silver did you find in the bag?

No 1964 or older halves were in that bunch. However, I got about 30 1965-70
coins and about 20 of the bicentennial issue.
