Default New Years Eve went on and on..

It must have! Because it took me so long to see 2004 coinage. ;-) But in
the past 48 hours:

3 '04 dimes
1 '04 cent

and...(drumroll, please)

My first Michigan quarter!

Now that I have it in hand, I just want to say that the design is not so
bad. I like the Great Lakes! In fact, it reminds me of the reverse of a
famous Early Commemorative Half Dollar (scaled down, flattened and
marred by an obvious motto).

That reverse is widely acknowledged to be the finest, most artistic,
most impressive and pleasing design to ever appear on a US coin that had
Moses Cleaveland on the opposite face.

Lucky you! I usually don't see my first new year coin until May or later.

Dale
There are still a few 2003 I haven't seen yet.

I have yet to see a Michigan. Come to think of it I have yet to see an
Alabama or Missouri yet either.
