Nah, those are the famous Santa Claus coins from the turkey, served
every year in the Christmas season. You put one of those in the turkey,
and whoever gets the bite with the coin may wear a Santa hat. Or so.

Hmmm ... jokes aside, for us Orthodox in the Eastern Mediterranean Santa
Claus is *not* from the North Pole but from Caesarea and his name is Saint
Basil :-)
Truth is that some Turks are trying to make money from someone who has
nothing to do with their faith, based on the simple fact/coincidence that
the city Saint Basil was born happens to be in what is today Turkey...

Gogu,
Thanks for the follow up on that issue. I wasn't even aware of the
existance of Saint Basil.
I spent two years in Crete and was very aware of the Greek Easter
celebrations but other aspects of the Orthodox faith slipped by me.
(I felt like a stranger in a strange land)

Yes, I know what you mean.
Europe and especially Greece is a totally different culture, a totally
different way of seeing things...
Some times better, some times worst...
I prefer to take the best of the two worlds.
Some times I succeed, some times I fail:-)))
