I recently purchased "The Sketch-Book of Geoffrey Crayton, Gent" by
Washington Irving. It is the University Edition published by Clarke,
Given, and Hooper of NY. There is an "Introductory Note" by Frank
Parsons and "Advertisement to the First American Edition" followed by
same but "English" edition.

Is this edition of any particular value?

Are you sure of the publisher? It is not a name I have come across. I
checked the Library of Congress catalogue and do not find it.

There is a COPAC listing for a work by that publisher, though, so I
think the OP probably has it right:

Interesting. Your post induced me to check my own copy of The Stones of Venice,
which turns out to be an undated Belford, Clarke & Co. publication. I infer
that probably Clarke, Given & Hooper was an earlier iteration of Belford, Clarke
& Co.
