Common date, no mint mark but I was glad to get it and happy to see
it's still possible to find them in pocket change!

Huh! I got one too, 1956-D. Some green corrosion, At a local
mexican restuarant. I attribute some of these to the "Coinstar"
effect.

Was it "just a whisper away" from MS65?

No, it was an AU-58 (with green corrosion), which everybody knows is
the next grade from an MS-63.

the ratio here is about 1 in 100.
dimes are about 1 in 60.
seems odd.
haven't gotten a silver quarter this decade.

If you mean that you are getting one silver dime for every 60
searched, that would be spectacular.

I have fiound two silver dimes in change during the last year (and one
of those by searching a pile of change that an older person had saved
for the last several years).

1 in 60 means 5 silver dimes in every 6 rolls, a total that seems
highly improbable to me (as does your alleged wheatie ratio).
The only silver coins I still get is halves (or halfs if you prefer),
usually 40%er's.

But he hasn't explained what he means, as yet. It's a bit cryptic.
