Default 2009 High Relief Double Eagle Questions

Today, at noon, the US Mint started selling high relief St Gaudens Double
Eagle coins for $1,189.00 + 4.95 s/h.
http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs...category=10191
I couldn't get through on the phone or the website 'til 1:20pm. When I
ordered the coin it stated the coin would ship on 2/06/09.
I wondering if everybody got the furtue ship date or if the coin I'll get in
a second pressing. In any event, I'm anxious to compare the 2009 DE to my
1927 st gaudens de ms63.

Good luck, especially with the lack of quality packaging etc that the mint
is infamous for lately. If the coin actually arrives it might be damaged by
the packaging, or rather the lack of packaging.

I got the same date, but at least on one of my earlier attempts
to buy it showed a January ship date.

I believe this one comes in a nice package including a nice wood box.

Did you buy more than one? Gold was up around forty dollars today and
clearly heading north for quite awhile.

from the mint web site:

". . . The 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin is packaged in an
elegant mahogany wood box with velvet lining. A wood platform encasing the
coin capsule allows the coin to be visible without tilting it. The box is
finished with a high-gloss lacquer and the inscriptions used are in a font
similar to those used in the early 1900s when the original coin was
produced.
Included with each coin is an official United States Mint companion book
that chronicles the history and development of the 2009 Ultra High Relief
Double Eagle Gold Coin describing the modern technologies and processes used
to. . ."

I only planned on buying the one, and I believe the Mint placed an
initial 1-per-household limit on the coin as well. I was already
invested in gold in several different forms -- this was just a buy as
a collector.

My wife and I will ooh and ahh over it for a bit, and I hope to
photograph it with a 4x5" film camera and make a monster enlargement.
Then it will be off to the safety deposit box.

I hear you. This is only my second gold purchase. First being 1927 st
gaudens double eagle ms-63 last november (how can i find out what the spot
gold price was on 11/15/08?)
Next I want to buy 5oz of gold bullion take delivery then store in my safe
deposit box. I've read of two more big time ponzi schemes since bernie
madoff and I just plain don't trust
gold certificates of deposits. I believe the dollar is going to lose an
incredible amount of value and gold is going to go up at least 50% more. If
you own gold bullion where did you buy it?
