Zappa on 8 track, came from "Flo 'n Eddie" thread

I seem to remember, back in '67 or so, that Zappa's "Absolutely
Freeeeee" album was released on 8 track in VERY limited numbers, along
with the equally scarce LP. Anyone know for sure? I DO remember that
album showing up on 4 track around that time, but 8? NOT sure.

I have over 100 Zappa carts, and don't see an Abosolutely Free in the pile. I
do have the LP, but no 4 or 8 tracks.
It must be a little obscure.

"Absolutely Free" is definitely on 8T. I have seen several flat pack
copies, it shows up on Ebay about once a year, always when I'm too
broke to snag it. I also recall seeing 4T copies.

On the other hand, I don't recall ever seeing a non-record club copy
of "Freak Out."

do remember "Free" being on 4 track on Verve, as a bud in high school
had a Muntz in his '63 409 Impala SS and played it non-stop. You
could barely hear anything with that boat anchor running, though.

The flatpak sounds great, but the bozo on Ebay I bought it from neglected to
tell me it was spliced in several places, with music missing.

In looking for a Freak Out I found my 4 track of Absolutely Free. It is a Muntz
Stereo Pak cart and is an original Verve V6/5013. And it's in very good
condition.
