rock-ola 494 at the end of the record problem

Hey, Pipe!

If you don't have one, try to beg, borrow, or steal a tone arm gauge. If you run the thing with pennies on the tonearm and you are tracking to heavily, it will prematurely wear out your records. One thing to remember, the tone arm tension spring is counterintuitive. Hooking it towards the back increases TA pressure, towards the front decreases TA pressure.

Also, if it is skipping after adjusting the clearance stob and cleaning the record cutoff switch, you might check the tone arm cable. If it is routed incorrectly, you may be binding up the tracking of the record groove.
