need help in identifying an old German? book

Hello All,

New to this newsgroup, but an old hand at newsgroups, a regular at
alt.marketing.online.ebay, and peruse a bunch of others as the need arises.
Am an eBay, powerseller and do most of my research online (eBay username:
equipmentrecyclers).

My father left behind a nice collection of International Collectors Library
and a not so nice collection of Fine Editions Press, which I have been
selling from time to time. Went to a local auction recently, the Maryland
Industries For The Blind had a bunch of vintage and antique books donated.
I had a field day, spent $200, came home with some very nice stuff.

My interest in collecting and selling old books has now grown in leaps and
bounds, I will be visiting this newsgroup more often now. Need some help
identifying an old book. Buried in one of the lots was, in what I am
assuming to be, a German book. I don't speak a word of the language. Any
help would be greatly appreciated. I have posted a pic of the title page up

I tried uploading a pic of one of the printed pages, but it comes out very
grainy and difficult to read. Just put a new computer in place and haven't
yet hooked up my scanner, hope to have it up and running today, if a scanned
pic would be helpful.

by a turn-of-the-century German satirist), published by Ullstein. Several
copies in the $10-15 dollar range being offered by German booksellers on ABE.
Von Wolzogen once visited the U.S., and called it "Dollarica" -- he found the
overriding focus on money-making to be ridiculous, even back then.

The best single online resource for that kind of bibliographical information
is probably the Karlsruhe virtual catalogue
(http://www.ubka.uni-karlsruhe.de/hylib/en/kvk.html). If you type in details
of your book you will see that, of the entries which give a date, some give
1910, some give [1910] - the square brackets mean it's known to be 1910,
although that information isn't actually given in the publication details of
the book itself - and some give c. (= circa, meaning "about" in Latin) or
"um" (= "about" in German) 1910, meaning it is assumed, for one reason or
another, to have been published at about that time. It may be that the
entries are different because there actually are different editions (one
which gives the date as 1910, one for which the date can be inferred to be
1910, and one which it is reasonable to assume was published around 1910),
or it may be that there was just the one edition and the discrepancy in the
bibliographical records arises because the people making the entries were at
variance.

There is also one entry for circa 1925. The publisher is the same, but the
details are slightly different. You might want to check your description
against the various descriptions to see which (if any) fits.
