Default TECH: RockOla 444

I picked up a decent RockOla 444 that wasn't working right, but now I have
it working almost all the way. The one problem I am having that I cannot
track down is the resetting of the tabs for the record selection.

I punch in the selection, and the machine works as it should except it will
not reset the selection on the wobble plate. Both solenoids are free and
seem good, so I'm pretty sure it's not them. The cam on the back is
situated properly for the microswitchs, and microswitch 2A seems to be fine
(I checked it with my multimeter).

Any idears? I checked out the wiring and all the connections and they seem
fine.

I have repaired/restored some pinballs and quite a few vids, so I'm not
afraid to get my hands dirty.

ANY help is appreciated.

Bill

i had the same problem on a 404. i took the reader off, cleaned the fingers
and the plate tracks with a pencil eraser, cleaned both solenoids with
alcohol and put it back together, seems to work proerly now.

Bill:

Have you checked the coils for continuity including the wires and
fingers? Wouldn't be the first Rockola that had both coils fried.
Cleaning the traces on the drum, and the points on the fingers may
help (eraser or fiberglass cleaning pencil). Also check the relay in
the circuit. There is a contact on one them that applies braking to
the gripper motor, and fires the coil to reset the pin (can;t remember
if these are separate contacts on the relay or the same contact). I
believe it is in the relay box on the mech frame.

If you have the manual, there is a description of the operation steps
with pictorials that is very helpful. If you don't, I can scan this
page of the manual and email it to you.
