Organization: TDC Internet Newsgroups: rec.collecting.stamps.discuss,rec.collecting.stamp s.marketplace Date: Sun, 31 Aug 2003 00:21:23 +0200 Subject: Tip of the week - new online sale Dear Frank Have a life !! Actually, the correct idiomatic English is "Get a life!". :^) Please tell where to post and share this news ? In rec.collecting.stamps.marketplace only. I myself was not sure that you were advertising for the Danish company, or indeed just telling us "the news". Your post did not seem appropriate for rec.collecting.stamps.discuss. If you had seen a particular item worth sharing information about (as people often do in this newsgroup for eBay items they come across), that's one thing. But a broad recommendation for a company seems very much like advertising and, posted to this newsgroup, nothing more than spam. You have not posted to this newsgroup for almost two years, according to the Google Groups archive; if you were a frequent poster to this newsgroup, and had been part of our community all along, we would have been less suspicious of your motives. In any event, we wish you would join us. You and I have corresponded about your military postal history interests; I'm sure you could often add substance to our discussions. "Per Rønberg" wrote in message ... Dear Frank Have a life !! Please tell where to post and share this news ? arrgggggg. I missed that you cross-posted. OK cross-posting = bad! The NG I deleted from this reply is the one you should have posted in. BTW I have a nice life - and part of it is enjoying the discussion NG (R.C.S.D). It has been an awesome place to share ideas and learn about our common hobby. As of late many spammers (unwanted and likely mass mailers) have sought fit to descend on our fair NG and drop their proverbial turds all over the place! You just happened to be the lucky one to get the brunt of my dissatisfaction. Frank |

Dear all
I'm sorry that you didn't want to hear my tip. I'm a collector and a long time reader of your news group. My message in the original posting was not to spam anyone, but to share the great news of having a new dealer on the internet - this time a place to buy fine quality material. As many other collectors I surf the internet to find good offers - most are found on eBay, but I was happy to find and share an alternativ place for scandinavian Postal History. Maybe this information could help some fellow collectors to find the items they need. But I was wrong. I understand this group is more discuss - than collecting - and I hope someone somewhere is able to delete this unwanted message. Per "J. A. Mc." skrev i en meddelelse ... Commercial versus non-commercial (or private party) Q. Does it matter whether I'm a commercial dealer or a private party? A. Yes. Commercial dealers may not post advertising in rec.collecting.stamps.discuss. Private parties may only post offers to trade in rec.collecting.stamps.discuss. Private parties may only post offers to buy, sell, or auction in rec.collecting.stamps.marketplace. Per Eventually consider as follows: - By its difficult coming into being this NG is very sensitive in what concerns the commercial ads - It was quite spammed in the last time - You have posted the same in the RSCD *and* in the RCSM, what in this case could be a bit ambiguous. Because some participants noticed you that there are some problems with your posting, you: - initially answered with "Have a life !!" ... - then started with a "Sorry !" and actually criticized this NG as a whole for being "more discuss - than collecting -". IMHO, some of those who answered your postings possibly overreacted a bit, but surely they weren't alone in this. And you have not only got generally civilized answers, but also a nice invitation to stay with us, despite some differences in appreciation.
