Default A pen thinner than the G2: Execugel et al.

Hello. I just purchased a Pilot G2 gel pen and I think I like the way it
writes, but it's a bit thick for my tastes. I notice that the Execugel is
thinner, but I can't find any opinions about it online. Has anyone tried it
or any other thinner gel pen that you can recommend?

Hi.

Did you buy the G2 .07mm point? There's a .05mm point available also.

Or, do you mean that the gel ink is too thick for your taste?

Or, do you mean that the barrel of the pen is too thick for ya?

The Pilot ExecuGel uses the same refill as the Pilot G2. The refills
come in .07mm and .05mm. Personally, the .07mm suits me fine. As for
the ExecuGel, it is a much thinner pen than the Pilot G2. Where the
G2 has a rubber grip, the ExecuGel has a chromed metal grip.

It took me a while to get used to the ExcuGel grip. But it's a great
inexpensive pen. I keep one in my briefcase. Works great and looks
great. I prefer it to the G2.

Thanks for the input. Now I just have to find out where to buy them
inexpensively. Thanks again.

Sorry -- _this_ is what I meant.

I think the Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip is significantly more comfortable than
the Pilot G2. Also, the Pentel gel ink is permanent, waterproof, fadeproof,
and acid-free which the G2 ink isn't. The Pentel Hybrid Gel is available
with or without the Grip in both fine and medium points and is refillable.
Wal-Mart currently has a 6-pack of fine blacks for $2.82.

I also found the barrel of the G2 .07 to be slightly larger than the barrel
of the .05. For awhile, I used a .07 refill in the .05 pen, changed back to
the .05 refill, then said to heck with it and switched to the Pentel Hybrid
gel which isn't quite as fine as the G2 .05.

If you like the feel of Parker ballpoints such as the Jotter, et al, another
option might be for you to use a Parker gel refill in one of the Parker
ballpoint pens. The medium point is .07mm so if that's too broad for you,
get the fine. Also, I believe that Parker ballpoint refills are supposed to
fit other pens such as Pelikan and Diplomat so using a Parker gel refill
will allow those additional options.

HTH.

I bought mine at Staples a few years ago. As I recall, they were
about six bucks a piece. They've cut back on the number of items they
carry, so I don't know if they still carry them. If you can't find
them at the local office super store, try A Penlovers Paradise. I
bought some stuff there a couple of years ago. Here's the link:

As for refills, WalMart carries Black, Blue and Red.

Am I correct in assuming that Pentel "Hybrid Gel" refills are of the same
exact dimension as is the G2? (G2 refills fit in a Aurora RB pen.)

No.

However, the Hybrid Gel refill will fit the Pentel RSVP ballpoint pen and
the RSVP ballpoint refills will fit the Hybrid Gel pens.
