I have sent some e-mails to this group, but didn't see them back. Is there

Google Groups shows four messages from you to this group since
July 1 (the one I'm replying to isn't there yet). Have you sent
more than that?

I have sent messages on August 1, 2 (twice) and 3, and only the last one
appears on my screen.

Those from August 1 & 2 don't show up on my computer, either. I
would suspect a news server problem.

Re non view of posts, I've encountered the same prob with my news server
and in particular outlook express , which all in all is a rather ****ty
program.

Posts were not showing up and yet they appear on the goggle news. So get on
to your ISP or change news reader.

Bit OT but has relevance. I lost 3000 or so mail items during a power
failure. In\box, sent mails and sub folders that were open and part of the
inbox. A lot.

PLease comp boffs and techies amongst the pensters. Is there a possibility
to restore if I return XP to beginning of July when it happened. There is
such an option I believe. Obviously will have to back up what's accumulated
since.

DovR, if you are referring to System Restore, that probably will restore
only XP's system files and configuration files, not your own user data;
see KB article 306084. Managing the latter is what backup and restore
are for, whether you use M$'s utility included with XP (see KB article
308422) or something you've cobbled together yourself.

Your post brought me way back to the old DOS 3.3 days and "poor man's
backup" which used xcopy. Ah, things were so easy then.
