Do Waterman cartidges == international?

Hi All,

I've been searching the back archives for an answer to this
question, and I have found threads that seem to indicate
both answers.

Other than the issue of length, will a pen that takes
international cartridges use the Waterman? I ask because
I am trying my first cartridge pen, and the only ink
locally available is Waterman.

Sometimes, the barrel of the pen tapers as you go back and is too narrow for
the waterman cartridge. Why not just say what pen you have?

I've used the long Waterman in several different pens (rOtring,
Pelikan, Diplomat, et. al.) which use international cartridges. They
worked fine and Waterman is good ink. I'm sure others in the group
will give more specific answers about the Waterman cartridge vis a vis
other cartridges, but the bottom line for me is that they work in pens
set up for international cartridges.

Because the butt end of the Waterman cartridge is tapered slightly, it
will work where other long cartrdiges may not. I have encountered pens
which could only accomodate short international cartridges, not the
long ones.

I'm assuming that locally, your only access to fountain pen ink is the
local office superstore, which usually only carries the long black and
blue Waterman cartridges. You may want to consider getting a
converter to go with your new pen so you can use bottled ink.

Yes, as long as the pen barrel has room for the butt end of the longer
cartridge. The front end is the same.

This is not necessarily true if proper, secure fit is desired. A
previous poster explained the nipple-diameter concern and this is right
on target. AD's experience with the Waterman cartridge provides solid
evidence.
