Default Iranian Imperial Calendar

Does anyone know how to convert an Iranian Imperial date to a Gregorian one?
The shah changed Iran's Islamic calendar to an Imperial one, going back 2500
years, but the revolution changed it back. There are numerous sites about
Iran, the Iranian calendar, and other calendars, but all they do is mention
the change, but not its start or how to convert Imperial dates to the
Gregorian.

A clue - the silver/gold series of commemorative coins dated 1971/SH1350 are
for the 2500th anniversary of the Persian Empire.

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

Iran went back and forth with the calendar, they used the old imperial
calendar for a short time in the 70's which started with the founding of the
Persian Empire that the Shah was trying in vain to emulate, then, after the
revolution in 1979 they went back to the Islamic calendar which dates from
the Hejira in 622 AD.
