What program to use for title strips?

Hi Guys,
I just picked up a really nice Rowe 100C and I was wondering what
program is recommended for printing title strips? Free is obviously
best, but if something is that good that the purchase merits buying it,
then so be it.

We distribute LoProfile's Title Strip maker for both 45 and CD jukes. A
good product that is not too expensive.

I personally designed my own in QuarkXpress. Just change title, artist and
year and done. That way I can do my own special designs for Xmas titles and
can personalize the color scheme to match my juke.

You could do the same thing using something like Office or Word.

But how ??? i have scanned a page of blank title strips and cant get any
print on them .

What is the cost for the 45 version?

I, for one have tried Lo-Profile and can honestly say I would *never*
recommend them to anyone. When I switched computers after 2 years, I
tried to use my L-P software onto my new one. After a call to their
'tech support', they informed me that I would have to buy their new
version. So you're SOL if you use their product and have to change
computers. I really don't find that fair at all, but that's just my
..02.

You have to design them from the ground up. A scanned image won't let type
be changed since it's like a photograph (a raster image). The quality would
also be poorer than designing it from scratch.

I measured the title strips, created a Quark document 8.5" x 11" and made a
master page with the strips on them. I drew a rule across the middle, made
a text box in the middle with a frame and white background, a triangle at
each end of the middle text box, and then a text box at top and bottom for
the titles. When I get a batch of records, all I need to do is to change
the titles, artist and year and print. All the strips butt one another and
have a thin rule for cutting. When they are printed, just use a pair of
scissors and cut them apart.

You may have to fiddle-fart with the size of the title-strip sheet, it
all depends on which printer you use. Once you have the size right,
save the document to your PC and you are ready for the next batch of
strips.

Go to link below and you will find that this guy has created some MS Word
forms that allow you to easily print titlestrips in many diferent styles and
colors including some with graphics. He used the styles of original
titlestrip designs that were available in the 50's and 60's and he offers
these patterns for download free through his website. All you need to make
them work is MS Word. As you type in the information his forms automatically
center the text and use the same fonts that the original titlestrips were
printed in. The only thing that you don't get that the original titlestrips
had is the perforations. You will have to use your scissors carefully to
separate them.
