People like Ida would have everyone working 16 hrs a day for a buck a day, like it was in the US prior to 1900! agree I dont on the 'mandatory collective bargaining' The professions have never done it like that and they manage decent wages, good benefits/pensions etc anyway. Bull****. Yep, you've always been full of that. Many physicians belong to SEIU. Pity that doesnt involve MANDATORY COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. Many professional engineers belong to OPIEU Pity that doesnt involve MANDATORY COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. Reams of even sillier **** flushed where it belongs. Still waiting for the name of one major league baseball player who is exempt from the CBA. Even a terminal sales ****wit should be able to grasp that major league baseball doesnt qualify as a PROFESSION, sales ****wit. Of course not. That's why they call it Professional Sports. It's quite funny when you publicly admit to your impotence. No wonder the best you've ever managed is sales ****wit when you cant manage something as basic as that. |

http://www.bsu.edu/news/article/0,13...-12021,00.html A Ball State University professor has written a new book addressing collective bargaining for schools. "Many states, including some in the Midwest, have mandatory collective bargaining for schools," said William Sharp, author and professor of educational leadership. "So, school superintendents and school board members need to know how to bargain successfully and incorporate strategies that can be used before, during and even after the negotiations have been completed." Teachers have professional negotiators on their side, yet some school boards rely on individuals with no training in this area. "Winning at Collective Bargaining" was written to help balance the negotiating process, Sharp added. The book, written from an administrative point of view, addresses state bargaining laws, strikes and contract management, the role of the negotiator, and negotiating win-win situations. Along with teaching educational leadership courses at Ball State, Sharp has served as the head negotiator for school boards in Indiana and Illinois. http://government.cce.cornell.edu/do...w.asp?id=legal Determine the bargaining unit. A bargaining unit is usually determined based on either a common employer, place of work, or a common job task. For example, all employees of a county may be represented by one union, or the custodial staff by one union and administrative staff by another. The bargaining units are most likely already established, but may need occasional revisions. If there is conflict over designating the bargaining unit, Public Employment Relations Board mediators can help to resolve the conflict. To reply via e-mail please delete 1 c from paccbell |
