Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between these 2 stamps? They
look the same in the cat.

Take a look at the top 'ornaments' between the two 2s. That is the only way
I have ever been able to tell them apart.

What stamp are you talking about - I have neither Scott nor SG. Maybe I
can help you.

The bottom inscriptions are in different fonts,
plus the rays in the background are different.

Scott 76 - old style gothic font, diagonal rays
Scott 79 - like Times New Roman, horizontal rays

If you should br fortunate enough to find one
with the modern font and diagonal rays, you have
a very valuable essay.
