$2 Premium Fed Set Sales at BEP
The BEP has begun sales of the long awaited Federal Reserve Sets of 12
notes, one each from the Fed Districts with a star note and super low serial numbers, beginning at 00000001* up to 00002000*. The official release date is today, November 8. HOWEVER, I can verify that there were some pre-release sales on Friday, November 5 taken over the phone!!! Thus, those of us who waited to fax our order after midnight or phone or internet on Nov 8, are SHUT OUT of any chance of getting the prize SERIAL NUMBER 1 STAR SET. Someone was able to, as the phone sales rep said, "be aggressive" and twist the arm of the Public Sales director and get pre-release sales over the phone just made a great "steal." Talk about kissin' butt. Just think, a $495 investment for twelve (12) SERIAL NUMBER ONE STAR notes (at thousands a piece on the secondary market) all before public sales were announced to begin. Power to the insider again. Just so you know, I did get one set, but not as low a serial numbered set as I had thought possible in a fair sale. Sincerely, C Rob |

Sincerely, C Rob No one SHOULD be shut out of any chance of getting the serial number 1 star set. That's because, according to the BEP, it was set aside, and will be given to the winner of a lottery, the automatic entrants being anyone who buys a set. The lottery will not commence until all 2000 sets have been sold. This is what I was told, at any rate. I bought mine at 8:30 this morning, on site at the BEP store in DC. I was told that at that store they had sets numbered 401 and up (how far up I don't know), and that there had been a few sets sold by phone already that morning. I got the set with SN 411. I was asked to fill out a form containing my name, address, phone, and E-mail, in order to be entered in the lottery. They said that for people ordering over the web, addresses and such would be harvested from the web-site orders. So, assuming I was told the truth, you should have as much chance as anybody of winning set 00000001*. By the way, it's a beautiful set; I love $2's. |

Sincerely, C Rob If they really took pre-sales that is outrageous behavior. They should be lined up against the wall for doing that. I am now very happy Ashcroft resigned. By the way, how did you know what serial numbers you received if you did not buy on site? I bought on the phone and on the web and was unable to determine the serial numbers. |

I heard that the BEP on-site store only had sets number 400 and up available on the so-called "first day of sale". Is this because they already sold sets #2 thru #400 to the home shopping network or some other sweetheart customer on Friday (before any of us had a chance to order). Something STINKS about this whole thing. Open challenge to the BEP : I dare you to come clean on what happened Friday and tell the collecting public all about it. I dare you to tell us what serial numbers went out and if there were any low ones left for us peons who ordered Monday morning. I dare you to tell us if, in the eventuality of orders being cut, will the elite few who ordered on Friday also get their orders cut? Who were these people who got to order on Friday? Were they insiders such as BEP employees and their friends? Who made the decision to open sales for some people on Friday? Why? Why wasn't the public informed? What sets went out and how many? Why are they still available on the website. I know damn well they've sold 2,000 by now. Of course these are questions they would never answer. That would require transparency and integrity. They do not know the meaning of those words. |
