Default $2

I have two books of uncirculated $2 bills (10 per book) from 1976 I
received as a gift way back when and just recently relocated. Can
anyone tell me the current value and how to go about "cashing" them
in?

Thank you.

Your $2 notes are worth $40 in total. You may cash them in just like you
would any other denomination of current USA banknotes at any location that
accepts USA banknotes anywhere in the USA and in many foreign countries.

I hope that this helps!

:-)

Sell them off on eBay, if they are uncirculated someone will give you a
little bit more than $2 each for them. Otherwise if they have any wear or
use you can just spend them. The 1976 notes are still the most common even
though they were again printed with 1995, 2003 and 2003-A dates. I have 4 of
them in my wallet right now to spend today.

Ha.... I beat YOU. I have 6 of them in my wallet right now :-) And all of
the 2003 $2 bills I get from the bank are NEW and uncirculated. Do you know
when there will be another printing of $2 bills - such as 2006 or 2007?

Sorry but now I have 8 of them as my kids were going to spend theirs today
and I bought them off of them to prevent their being spent wantonlessly.

Do they have cancelled stamps on them? (I think April 13, 1976) If so,
you might get a small premium from a collector of such things on Ebay.

Otherwise, as everyone has said, these are simply Federal Reserve
Notes like any other and can be spent anywhere US currency can be
spent. There's no such thing as "cashing them in" -- they ARE cash. If
you want to get change for them, you could ask your local bank.

Padraic

Thank you.

Default WARNING - $2

A WARNING. If you live the Pontiac, Michigan area, and if you go to the Old
Country Buffet restaurant there, they may refuse to take your $2 bills.
That happened to me a few weeks ago. I was pretty dumbfounded when it
happened, and did not ask the manager at the time. I called the next day and
talk with "a manager", who said YES, they do take $2 bills since they are
"legal tender". He said the casher probably never saw a $2 bills before. It
is pretty amazing how there are so many ignorant people out there in our
society - Very Scary

Default WARNING - US currency refused at retail

On the flip side of that sort of experience, when the "golden dollar" coins
were brand new, I got a roll and started spending them everywhere. The usual
response I got was, "Oh, what is that?"

I'd explain, "It's the new dollar coin that was just released."

The befuddled clerk would invariably shrug their shoulders and say, "Huh.
Never heard of it." and pop it into the till.

I was flabbergasted (or gob smacked, for you English blokes) that they'd
accept something as payment that they had no knowledge of and would just
take my word that it was real money and not some ugly arcade token.

As for spending twos, I get fresh straps of them periodically and give them
out all the time. Most people give it a look and say, "Wow, a brand new $2.
I didn't think they still made these. Are you printing them up in your
basement?"

yeah, it's kinda amazing that sotroes and restaurants don't require
their cashiers and managers to actually know what money looks like
