But, to some people the learning curve is intimidating and I appreciate that. It's really not that bad, though, and once you get there you'd wonder why you waited. But anyway, we're a bit off-topic... Gad, I'd learn Linux before going back to McApple !!!! Um, you do know that Apple went to a Unix operating system several years ago, right? That's _why_ it's got the security model it does (a working one) rather than a leaky, "Take-me-big-boy" security model such as Windows does. But, yeah. Unix under the covers, great GUI, so you get the security, the stability, and the usability, all in one package. But, whatever. I always get a chuckle out of watching all the gyrations Windows users have come to accept as normal and accepted costs of using their chosen OS. |

Unfortunately it's their GUI that makes it such a pedantic 'system'. Perhaps they've improved, but it was such a PITA, no shortcuts, no options, etc. Yup, sounds like you haven't looked at it for 4 years or so. XP's nearly as bad in demanding you 'accept' their choices - it's why I run 98-SE2 on most machines. I'd rather remove my own spleen with a fork and without the benefit of an anesthetic. |

I'd have thought it was in the mid 90's that they got wiser ... G Sorry, I just can't get into this debate at the moment. No skin off my back either way; I make good money cleaning up after Windows inherent defects, so it doesn't matter one way or the other. Haven't bothered (been bothered) by mac'y stuff since '93. Nope, not a thing has changed since then. Oh, you do know they have color now too, ja? I'd rather remove my own spleen with a fork and without the benefit of an anesthetic. Can I watch ... BSEG? Sure, someone has to hold the mirror, after all. |
