Sounds like you got off on the wrong foot here... That's lamentable.
What you don't realise is that these things ARE often copied (as
others have said) and aren't on the open market due to their status.

Once you realise that your story is VERY unbelievable, you'll see that
Billy's quip is not at all out of line -- you are a couple weeks shy
of a very good April Fool's story!

The story I have is true, I got this
news group from a web site, said this is where to go for these
questions.

Indeed it is -- let's try it from the top, then. First, find out how
many your friend found, find out if all the serial numbers are
different. If they're different, get some GOOD scans of a few of the
notes (front and back, and for preference all of the notes) and post
them to a free server somewhere. Send the url(s) here. Billy's kidding
aside, folks here would be able to make an initial determination for
you.

If they think the notes look good, you might consider taking one to a
reputable coin / currency dealer for an in person determination. This
is really the only way to determine whether or not you've got a fake
unless YOU know what you're doing.

I wouldn't call the Treasury Department. They will certainly be able
to determine if they're real or fake, but they will most likely seize
them and probably destroy or at least confiscate them from you. You
and your friend won't be paid for your troubles.

If you don't like people coming here and asking questions,
then change the web site, otherwise shut the **** up asshole.

You're making a very poor impression here on your first visit.

The rest of your potty mouth response was snipped for clarity. If
you'd like help, just calm down, keep it clean and follow the advice
given above.

Me, I'd like to see some real 100000s spread out! You can at least
provide some pictures for us to drool over (if they're real).

Padraic.

It's "you're" not "your", and it's "can't" and not "can't'", and it's
"I'm" and not "i'm". Billy

I'm calling the Department of the Treasury tomorrow to see if it's

If they are legal he's going to send me some, but I don't know what to

I'm sorry to anyone that had to read my posts, except Billy. I just
came to ask a question, If he didn't like it, he could have ignored
me.
As far as the bills go, I can't understand why anyone would be
transporting counterfeit bills of a denomination that's illegal to
posses. My guess is it was a government plane that was possibly
transferring gold from the Philippines. I know that there was a lot
of gold our government got from there over the years.
I wish I knew what kind of plane it was he found.
Anyway I talked to the dept of treasury and they said it's illegal to
posses it, then I called the Secret Service and they said don't worry
about it. They said take the bill (or bills) to a bank to get
verification, but I asked if I could just bring them to the Secret
Service. He said they verify bills all the time, but, if it's
counterfeit then they will have to paint it, I have no idea what that
means. So I contacted the person and he's sending me some of the
bills. The person I'm dealing with is my wife's brother, and it's a
good friend of his that found the plane and bills.

The story is real, even if the bills are fake.

What I really wanted to know is where to find a reputable coin /
currency dealer.

Even though you all probably hate me, I'll still post the results
here, either way. It'll take a few weeks just to get the mail from
there. Then if it turns out to be real (I'm not counting on it) maybe
I can get some help. I'll be back in a few weeks.

It is my understanding from past research (about 1966) that the $100,000
notes were only authorized for interbank transfers within the USA. There are

Sorry.

That S. Freud guy is full of ****. All $100,000 bills are accounted for and a couple of the bills are on loan to museums, one being the Smithsonian. None of the bills left the U.S. either. Plus they only printed 42,000 of the notes. So serial number A01230199A is impossible. Nice try, better luck next time. Also if he supplies scans of the notes, I can reference the plate and check numbers to make sure they match with the serial numbers listed.

Well, sir, HE's the one you need to be apologising to formost!

Sure he could have. In stead, he took the opportunity to poke some
fun... Anyway...

They may or may not be "counterfeits". They could simply be copies.
Perhaps movie props. I don't know.

Well, you tipped off the Federales, so they're probably going to have
you marked now! If you dó get a few, it wouldn't hurt to swing by a
reputable coin / currency dealer in your area first before consigning
these things to an inevitable shredding machine at SS hq.

The story is real, even if the bills are fake.

April fools notwithstanding, I see no reason yet to disbelieve the
story. Even thought the story is quite unbelievable!

What I really wanted to know is where to find a reputable coin /
currency dealer.

Well, we don't know where you are. Not a street address, just a city.
You can also look in the yellow pages.

Even though you all probably hate me, I'll still post the results

Can't take it?
What a wussy.
Here in Hawaii The "F" word is normal everyday language. You'll hear
it in the stores, on the buss, almost everywhere in public. It's just
a word, if you have a problem with it, it's because you decided to
make it a problem....

your pretty stupid, or ignorant, I never gave you a serial number, and
I also said I don't know if the bills are even real.
Your Reading someone else's post.
I just gave a story of how someone in another country found some. And
I'm sure if our government lost some bills they would tell the public
right away. Yupper, our government would never hide anything from the
public. You know everything. Damn there are some grumpy people in this
group.... I mean besides me....
