Seeking information and value of a $1000 bill bearing the likenesses of
the founding fathers and reading: Seventeen months after date The Bank
of the United States promises to pay "G.W. Farman" or order one
thousand dollars in New York, Philadelphia Dec. 14th, 1840...

Serial number 8894, right?

It's a well-known (to the collecting community) reproduction. There
were probably a million copies printed over the years (I've probably
got half a dozen or so).

IIRC, they originally sold for a buck or so, which is probably what
it's worth now.

Is the serial number 8894 like this one:
http://www.ushistory.org/tour/more/banknote01.htm? If so, it is a
modern copy.
