FA: British Martini-Henry Socket Bayonet in Scabbard
British Martini-Henry Socket Bayonet in Scabbard
This British Martini-Henry Socket Bayonet is in very good condition in its original scabbard. The bayonet is a tri-corner style and measures 22 inches (blade length) with an overall length of 25 ¼ inches. The blade is marked 12 - 99 (1899) and has the British proof marks and Broad Arrow. There is a letter ( R ). Please see pictures for all the markings on the blade. The locking ring and screw are still present. The bayonet is in very good condition with minor pitting at the edges of the blade. The scabbard is in fair condition. It is all there, but is loose in two areas. The internal metal band that runs the entire length of the scabbard is holding the scabbard together. The brass throat and drag are still present. Both brass pieces are marked with the British Broad Arrow and (WD). Although the condition is not the best, these are getting hard to find. Consequently, I have started the bidding at only $9.99, well below what these are worth. To see pictures, please view at: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=2258009208 |
