Default Sharp eyed viewer spots numismatic error on "Monk" TV episode

From letters to TV Guide:

"Did anyone notice the goof in the "Monk" summer season
finale? During a flashback to 1972, Monk solves a case, thanks
to a message written on a $5 bill. But when the incriminating
evidence is revealed, a bill of modern design is shown.
Considering Monk's usual attention to minute detail, I'm
surprised he-or the show's producer didn't notice this gaffe!"

Not the first time, either. There was an episode of Monk last summer
with a plot that relied on the San Francisco mint producing a
circulating "penny".

Anyone found any business strike 2004-S cents? :-)

Lots of money errors in movies. "Run Silent, Run Deep" shows a sailor
in a bar during WW2 leaving a dollar bill on the bar with "IN GOD WE
TRUST" on the back. "Pearl Harbor" shows a sailor in December, 1941
paying for something with a bill with the "HAWAII" overprint not issued
until June, 1942. One version of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" shows
Scrooge counting out a King George V gold sovereign.
