Djibouti query.
I have a number of these that are suffering the dreaded
"gum krinkle". I'd like to soak/wash the mucilage from the back and wondered if anyone knew if any of the colours are fugitive? Do we consider this paper "quadrille"? http://cjoint.com/data/eEfTZ0mAwT.htm Thanks |

Do we consider this paper "quadrille"? http://cjoint.com/data/eEfTZ0mAwT.htm Thanks Rod, This one was issued in 1894-1900 under the French protectorate on Cote Française des Somalis (near Ethiopia). This is Yvert # 6 on quadrilled paper - CV 4 / 3 Euros # 6a is on a thick paper - CV 18 / 18 Euros. The quadrilled papar is very similar to France "Peace & Commerce" Sage Yvert # 101 that I'm sure you have. No idea on whether the colours are fugitive, although, these stamps are not listed by Yvert in their (very limited) list of fugitive colours. -- All the best, Pierre Courtiade |

I have soaked a few with good results. The paper is quadrille. Not used that often. Without a book, France used it on a 15c Type "Sage" blue.' A clean stamp is probably worth more than a nasty stamp for this issue. ======================= Tracy Barber ----------------------- adirondack-pc ----------------------- "Freebie Stamp Project" ======================= |

Buchheit Col.fra 586 Stéphane, Many thanks for this very interesting page ! I am sure it would be of a great interest as well for the French speaking forum : news:fr.rec.philatelie Would you care to place a post on frp ? Or even better, to put your page on the FAQ in French ? http://www.faqphilatelie.lautre.net -- All the best, Pierre Courtiade |
