More counterfeit stuff
I have been reading about the recent influx of counterfeit coins on eBay and
such and the unwillingness of government agencies to deal with unmarked 'copy' coins but what happens when you receive a publication or catalog in US mail with the same "counterfeit coins" which are unmarked? This company does however explain a very similar description to the auction spoofs that these are indeed "counterfeit" and will make good hole fillers. My biggest concern is the picture they offer of both obverse and reverse does not have "copy" stamped nor is there any indication these are duplicates, fakes, copies etc. What prevents the person buying this illegal counterfeit to resell it as authentic to an unsuspecting buyer? Naturally the coins are trade dollars 1873-cc thru 1877-cc piced about $18-$19. I don't believe people pay this kind of price to examine or research fakes. My only assumption is foul play or their ability to possibly dupe 1 out of 100 people and capitolize. If it matters this calalog came from AZ -- /\/\athO ' Resident Thread Killer' |

Phil,
Maybe I should take a pic of the ad from the catalog and post it to the numismatic binaries group. I too am an ANA member but feel unqualified to make this decision alone. As far as the secret service, well, they don't know me yet so I'd rather keep it that way if I can help it. Keep your eyes open for that pic.. Math() "Phil DeMayo" wrote in message ... In the front section of your local phone book you should be able to find your nearest Secret Service office. Send the catalog to them. If the company is also an ANA member dealer, you can report them to the ANA as well. ++++++++++ Phil DeMayo - always here for my fellow Stooge When bidding online always sit on your helmet Just say NO to counterfeits |

So we have to do something about that. But if you want the Secret Service to know about the catalog, you can provide the original or a xerox through an intermediary.
