Default 32-cent women suffrage, US Scott 2980: who's on it?

The photo in the stamp appears to be of a modern political
demonstration with the National Organization for Women (NOW) (perhaps
jointly with other group/s), perhaps based on a news photo. Does anyone
know if the names of the individuals have been researched and
published? Do these folks know they were on this stamp?

NOW was founded in the mid 1960s. I don't know of any earlier
organization associated with women's suffrage that had the same
acronym.

Often, NOW asked participants to dress in white, to commemorate the
1920 achievement of women's suffrage. As a result, some participants
showed up in frilly white outfits that gave an air of decades past,
even though the majority of attendees, in my impression, more often
than not are relatively young women. That may mean that the people
portrayed on the stamp were probably alive when the stamp was issued,
making it a very unusual issue for the U.S., which, by policy or law,
only permits deceased persons to appear on stamps (although exceptions
have occurred, usually military, they have been by mistake).

There's a reference on the stamp to Springfield NOW, which may refer to
Springfield, Illinois, a logical place for a NOW chapter, but I can't
be sure, since there's more than one Springfield in the U.S.

When I inquired at NOW some years ago, one replied but didn't know.
I've searched Internet websites to no avail. The only newsgroup
postings I found a while back were non-English.

Anyone know anything about this? Thank you much!
