Default 1400 wurlitzer turn table rotation sewems backwards.

my turn table rotation seems to be backwards. when its on the top
needle arm it rotates counter clock wise. when it is on the lower arm
its clockwise. ive tried to adjust the reverse switch but the turn
table will only go clockwise. it would seem the position of the tone
arm rod dictates the direction but mine seems backwards. any help is
appreciated. thanks norm

Norm,

The direction is controlled by the shaft that runs beside the tone arm
shaft. I don't have a 1400 handy, but when it is up one tone arm can
move freely and hte turntable turns one way, when it is down the other
tone arm moves freely and the turntable rotates the other way. There is
a microswitch that selects which motor winding is energized and (I
recall) another that selects which tone arm is connected to the amp. If
the turning is reversed then simply exchange the wires on the
microswitch N.C. to N.O. and vice versa.

The direction chosen is selected by the pin released, that is a
mechanical adjustment.

You do have the manual...

hello john. i did swap wires on the reverse switch. theres 3 wires. i
swapped the orange and white but maybe i need to swap red and orange.
ill try that tommorrow. yes i do have a manual. just have some trouble
understanding it. when i first started to working on it i had a
problem with the sound on my bottom tone arm. top was fine. didnt know
this thing had a dual motor drive. when i found the reversing switch i
adjusted it so the mortor would turn different directions but wrong
for the needle. the amis are easier to work on but they are similiar
in some ways.thanks norm in missouri

Careful you do not short out the motor wiring and blow a fuse! I can't
recall if the schematics show the colour code for the motor wiring, but
you MUST follow it. Note the microswitch terminals are labelled N.C
(Normally Closed), N.O.(Normally Open), and C (Common). The AC will be
coming to the 'C' terminal and the motor windings (one from each) will
go to the NC and NO terminals. The other side of themotor windings will
be tied together and run off to the other side of the AC line.

So the microswitch connects one or the other motor windings to the AC
line leaving the alternate winding disconnected on one side.

Hope that is clear...
