Yes, this is how they work (at least in the UK and I doubt something so fundamental to their business model is different elsewhere). You list book on Alibris. Customer orders book from Alibris, Alibris tells you it's been ordered, you send it to Alibris, Alibris sends it to customer. Customer pays Alibris, Alibris pays you. Well, sort of. Sometimes you send the book to Alibris (this happens if, for example, the book was ordered through Barnes & Noble), but most of the time the book is shipped directly to the customer. Alibris tells you the customer's name/address & that's where you send the book. When you're asked to send a package to Alibris, use one of the USPS mailing stickers, and you will not have to pay any postage. When sending direct to the customer they reimburse you for shipping (there is a shipping allowance). Their "help" menu in the seller area of the site should be able to answer your questions ~~ best, Denise |

AFAIK, all our Alibris orders (in the UK) go straight to Alibris. Or maybe it's changed and I'm just out of touch! -- I deal mostly with the retail store and eBay, not Ali/ABE etc. (Later.) As suspected -- shipping direct to the customer is unique to dealers in the US and Canada -- everywhere else, everything is shipped to Alibris. |
