French Question
Below is posted a scan of a cover mailed from
Hungary in 1919 to France. http://cjoint.com/data/kvebaDyRpq.htm The envelope and letter are written from a French soldier in the 16th Infantry, 1st Battalion Sector 516 at the occupation of Szeged, Hungary. http://www.bibl.u-szeged.hu/szeged/szeged.html It is postmarked "Tresor et Postes B" (in Paris). It is addressed to Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon (Deux Sevres) http://www.abritel.fr/imgmix/situati... &t=1129863719 and the reverse has a receiver cancel of Mauzé. My question is this. Although the "Tresor et Postes" cancellation is well known, has anyone else seen this "Tresor et Postes B" cancel? I am told that it is not recorded by (Bertrand?) Sinais. Blair |

French Question
Blair, you can always be relied upon to provide the little details that make
a posting interesting. I cannot answer your question, but I have two of mine. What was the French army doing in Hungary in 1919? Were they there to supervise a plebiscite? The third URL was unintelligible; it was all in computer symbols. Tony "Blair (TC)" wrote in message oups.com... So Netscape and many other browsers will try to display is as though it was HTML. In many cases, such as this, IE looks at the contents of the datafile being sent and overrides the specified Content-Type. IE's doing this is generally considered to be wrong, even though in *this* case it seems to be working getter. The correct way of dealing with this is to fix the server. -- = Eric Bustad, Norwegian bachelor programmer |

Thanks a lot, Blair. To make this email shorter, I have snipped all but the
