I could have cried.
I have a good friend. I have yet to meet him in person. He lives in
France and we met each other several years ago over the phone through our jobs. We have stayed in touch with letters, emails, etc. and are always making plans to visit one another but never seem to get around to it. He knows that I collect coins. He knows nothing at all about coin collecting. So I was suprised when I recieved the Christmas package from him with this year with a small note. which said, I found this in a shop here and I know you like to collect coins, so I bought it for you this Christmas, it was pretty dirty but cleaned up nicely with the polisher on my dremel. I did not want to open the box up but finally did anyway.... a nice shiny.....cleaned....1846 seated liberty silver dollar. |

Even with the cleaning, the '46 is a great piece to own. This makes me want to write an ode to friends of coin collectors; explaining what we do and what they should (and should not) do with coins they find for us. Les http://life-of-coins.blogspot.com |

I wouldn't fret over this coin - The great chance is that it is a common Chinese made fake. They are quite common with this date. If you could image the coin and post it somewhere I'm sure someone could give you confirmation either way. Reclining Buddha The Original Couch Potato! |
